Woman Offers to Help a Shelter Cat, Hours Later Finds Kittens in Her House, It’s the Most Rewarding Thing

A kind woman offered to help a shelter cat. Hours later, she found kittens in her house. It was the most rewarding thing.

Megyn was at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter when she noticed a cat, Suzie, lying on her side with a big belly.

The cat’s previous family left her behind when they moved. A Good Samaritan found her wandering the streets heavily pregnant and brought her to the shelter for help.

The shelter environment isn’t ideal for raising kittens, so Megyn offered to foster the expectant mom. “When I noticed Suzie, she was showing the beginning signs of being in labor,” Megyn told Love Meow.

Shortly after arriving at her foster home, Suzie lay beside Megyn and showered her with purrs and affection. “She plopped herself right by me and immediately started making biscuits on my face. Then, she proceeded to groom my entire face.”

Suzie was over the moon to be out of the shelter and have a comfortable place for her kittens.

That evening, she brought four babies into the world and spent the night tending to them. Just when Megyn thought that was all the kittens, she was in for a surprise.

The next day, Megyn woke up to a fifth baby nursing alongside the others. Mama Suzie was incredibly loving and nurturing, keeping all five clean, warm and well-fed.

As it turned out, Suzie needed more than just a nursery but also an experienced carer to help her thrive.

About ten days after giving birth, she became ill with the dreaded panleukopenia. Familiar with the treatment protocol, Megyn immediately started testing, providing medications and supportive care. Her swift action and tireless efforts saved Suzie’s life.

“By pure good fortune, none of the kittens have shown symptoms. Suzie was a champ through her illness and never stopped caring for her babies. She loves them more than anything.”

Suzie is protective and keeps a watchful eye on her kittens. “She’s always running to the door or growling if she hears another animal.”

She trusts her foster mom whole-heartedly and allows her to dote on her precious five. “She is a people-person through and through. She loves to share her babies with her human pals.”

At almost seven weeks old, the kitten crew is a curious, boisterous bunch. They romp around their room, pouncing on each other, keeping their mom on her toes.

After a flurry of activity, the kittens nestle in their fluffy bed and snooze away in a cuddle pile.

“When Suzie is not being the world’s best mother, she can be found having lengthy conversations with her human friends. She loves to sit and chat.”

Suzie has had multiple litters over her adult life. Fortunately, this will be her last one. When the kittens are big enough to spread their wings and fly, she’ll get to enjoy her retirement and focus on being a cat again.

“As a confident cat, she loves to explore new places but always comes back to sit by her person’s side.

“If she were a person, she would be Elle Woods — always glamorous, ensures her appearance is immaculate, a natural leader, a social butterfly, and smart to boot.”

“We are so lucky we’ve had the pleasure of hosting Suzie while she raises her five perfect babies.”
