This magnificent complex displays a remarkable mixture of architectural styles, which characterized much of Portuguese art in the past centuries.
The original construction was built at the beginning of the 18th-century.
In the decades that followed the ownership switched between different families who all significantly altered the construction and enriched its interior.
In every room you’ll be overwhelmed by highly detailed ornaments and wonderful frescoes.
During the 20th-century the palace was acquired by the State that transformed it to be implemented for public services.
For a long period it housed a scientific institute. Over the years many professors and students passed through its interiors.
Eventually the institute moved out and the palace. Sadly it never received a new purpose.
Nowadays the state of the interior and exterior are slowly declining.
