Sally Field’s worst on-screen kiss in her decades-long career might be a surprise to most
I’ve always been a fan of Sally Field. She is a legend and truly a gifted actress. And the 76-year-old has shared many on-screen romances in her storied career.
She has had, therefore, her fair share of on-screen kisses as well. She recently shared which has been the worst, although she hesitated to admit which costar it was with at first.
Sally Field is known as one of the most talented and adaptable actresses of her time, and she has an amazing career in Hollywood to show for it. She has captivated audiences with many memorable roles in various films and TV shows.
One performance that stands out to me is her role in Steel Magnolias, especially that emotional funeral scene. Sally really nailed the feelings of love, sadness, anger, and loss in that moment.
Additionally, she is well-known for her parts in popular movies and series like Gidget, The Flying Nun, Smokey and the Bandit, Forrest Gump, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Erin Brockovich.
Sally was born into a working-class showbiz family in Pasadena, California.
But her childhood was far from a fairytale. In her memoirs, Sally wrote that her stepfather did some very bad things to her and she had a secret abortion at 17.
But she ended up being a really kind and lovely person.
Today, Sally is still busy with her work. She played the role of Janice in the 2020 TV show Dispatches From Elsewhere. In 2022, she took on the character of Jessie Buss in Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, a hit series that shows the lives of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s.
Since she’s so involved in her career, it makes sense that Sally pops up in interviews every now and then.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” beloved star Sally Field decided to admit her worst on-screen kiss to the public after a probing question by a fan came in.
Field, 76, looked around after the question was asked, laughing, “Oh boy. Shall I really name names here?”
“I think you should,” Cohen, 54, replied.
Field caved: “Okay. This is going to be a shocker. Hold on folks.”
The Oscar-winning actress named her former boyfriend–star Burt Reynolds–as the culprit.
Cohen quickly jumped in with a question, saying, “But weren’t you dating back then?”
Field shared that while they were filming “Smokey and the Bandit,” she had to “look the other way” sometimes. She mentioned that this was because it “just wasn’t something he really did for you.”
“Wow, that’s interesting,” Cohen replied, clearly surprised.
The actress continued, explaining that there was a lot of “drooling” from Reynolds while they were on set together.
The two stars first met in 1977 during the filming of “Smokey and the Bandit,” and they ended up dating for around five years.
Reynolds, who sadly died of cardiac arrest at 82, reportedly talked about his relationship with Field in his memoir But Enough About Me, according to the New York Post.
The star expressed regret about their time together, wishing that he had tried harder to make things work between them.
In March, Field explained to Variety that she had stopped speaking with Reynolds in the final 30 years of his life with good reason.
She explained, “I couldn’t be around him at all. He really wasn’t good for me in any way. He convinced himself that I meant more to him than he actually believed, but that wasn’t true. He just wanted something he couldn’t have. I didn’t want to handle that situation.”
